In August 2018 we took 41 adults with 53 children to Gullivers’s Farm Park. We were able to provide back packs filled with activity books, colours, toys, snacks and drinks for all the children.
Then 11 families with 46 children joined us at West Lodge Farm for the day where they were able to explore the farm, the livestock (animals), the woods, the fields, the streams and the machinery. They could also handle the rabbits and guinea pigs in cuddle corner, take a pony ride, watch the very popular piglet race or play in the adventure playground. The Friends of Home-Start provided everyone with a picnic on the day too!
We would like to thank all of our volunteers who came on the trips to help support the families and also those who offered lifts to and from the farm. All of the families and children really enjoyed themselves on both trips.
The Summer Holidays can be a stressful time for the parents who we support. For many, the trips that we organise are the highlight of their summer and help to create happy family memories, making an enormous difference to the families.
We would like to thank all of our fundraisers who have made these trips possible.
